Developer Arc System Works has launched a major Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls<\/u><\/a> update that seems to have fixed many of the PC issues players reported following its launch.<\/p>\n

It’s been a rough first weekend for the developer’s new 4v4 tag team fighting game. Players almost immediately reported encountering stuttering issues following Marvel Tokon’s PC and PlayStation 5 launch last week, with even fighting game community legend Maximilian Dood uninstalling the game from Steam during a livestream<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arc System Works said it was investigating the issues as players weighed refunds if fixes didn’t arrive fast. Now, following maintenance that delivered an update this morning, the atmosphere surrounding Marvel Tokon is a little lighter.<\/p>\n

“It fixed stuttering for me!” one Reddit user said<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I had micro stutters, 58fps, and low gpu utilization,” another said<\/u><\/a>, “Alll fixxeddd.”<\/p>\n

As players flocked to play Marvel Tokon during its launch weekend, PC owners instead spent most of their time taking to Steam to warn others that they had found Arc System Works’ port to be nearly unplayable<\/a>. A plethora of technical issues, including persistent stuttering, were the main driving force behind the wave of negative reviews on Valve’s digital storefront. The backlash got so intense that Marvel Tokon came within just a few hundred reviews of falling to “Mostly Negative” reception in all languages.<\/p>\n

After a weekend with only some communication as players floundered on PC, it’s safe to say most weren’t expecting an update to be this successful this quickly. A few of the highlights from the patch include fixes for sudden performance drops, frame rate drops, and reduced CPU usage. It’s all available now, so if you’re one of the many who experienced problems since its August 6 release date, you may want to go download it.<\/p>\n

There are still those who say the latest Marvel Tokon update has fixed only some of their problems. Forced PSN connection and a lack of Linux support, for example, still seem to be intact, while others say they are continuing to trudge through dropped frames, even if things do seem smoother overall.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, it has only been a few days. In patch notes published today, Arc System Works promised that the new update is “part of our ongoing work to improve performance, stability, and the overall experience.” In other words, a bit of patience might go a long way as the developer hopefully works out additional kinks in the days ahead. Some players have even called on those who left negative Steam reviews to go back and switch their rating<\/u><\/a> if they feel their grievances have been sufficiently addressed.<\/p>\n

“It’s perfect for me now,” one player said<\/u><\/a>. “What the f**k, Tokon saved? Guys, update your reviews if you’re satisfied to let them know their efforts were worth it…”<\/p>\n

“If we really are back, I honestly wasn’t expecting a fix this soon,” another added<\/u><\/a>. “Or even no fix at all for at least a month, a week at the earliest. But 4 days after launch they bring out the hotfix. Way to go, guys. All that to say they never should’ve had this problem to begin with. But I’m just glad we’re back after only like 90 hours of pain.”<\/p>\n

Marvel Tokon is out now for PC and PS5. There’s definitely some work to be done before players on all platforms can see what moves Marvel characters like Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Blade, Deadpool, and Wolverine bring to the table without any hiccups. We\u2019ve been working on a number of fixes and improvements aimed at reducing performance issues, improving stability, and addressing some specific problems.<\/p>\n

PC Fixes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reduced CPU Usage<\/strong><\/p>\n

Multiple fixes have been implemented to reduce overall CPU usage, including:<\/p>\n

-An issue where the CPU ran high throughout the start up process.<\/p>\n

-An issue where additional load on the system was being created due to periodic audio processing during matches.<\/p>\n

Sudden Performance Drops<\/strong><\/p>\n

We identified an issue where the game was regularly checking for available audio inputs. These unnecessary checks could cause sudden frame drops and performance drops. This has now been addressed.<\/p>\n

Frame Rate Drops<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fixed an issue where the frame rate would drop when certain resolutions were selected.<\/p>\n

Bug Fixes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Battle Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fixed an issue where restarting the game with certain customization items or colors enabled would cause the settings to revert to default.<\/p>\n

Online Lobby<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fixed an issue where changing how attack buttons were displayed to action icons resulted in some buttons becoming unresponsive during the open lobby mini games.<\/p>\n

On PC<\/p>\n

Warm Up Those Shaders<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the game being updated to the latest version, the PC version will prompt you to warm-up the shaders. Do so now for a smoother experience.<\/p>\n

Auto Graphics Quality Setting<\/strong><\/p>\n

Improved auto spec detection to select a graphics profile that better fits your system.<\/p>\n
