Black Friday discounts are yet to officially start for Amazon, but that hasn’t stopped the retailer from already cutting prices on big new releases like Borderlands 4, which only launched a little over a month ago.<\/p>\n

At 21% off, it’s a fairly reasonable saving on Gearbox\u2019s open-world loot shooter, bringing the PS5 and Xbox versions down to just $54.99<\/u><\/a> right on the cusp of the November sales.<\/p>\n

While our reviewer and loot shooter aficionado, Travis Northup, felt the open world wasn\u2019t quite as open as it could be, he still gave the game a recommendable 8 out of 10<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBorderlands 4 gives the series the massive kick in the pants it has needed, with a fantastic open world and greatly improved combat, even if bugs and invisible walls can sometimes throw off that groove.\u201d<\/p>\n

The game also recently got a big balance patch,<\/u><\/a> which had very positive ramifications for my chosen Vault Hunter, Amon, and the PS5 version in this deal now has an FOV slider and improved performance<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Expect Borderlands 4 to be around for a while, too. While the Switch 2 port has been delayed indefinitely<\/u><\/a>, the game\u2019s post-launch roadmap is stacked<\/u><\/a> – and will include a new Vault Hunter, C4SH, who was revealed recently<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Should You Wait for Black Friday Proper?<\/h2>\n

Probably… yeah? I mean what are you expecting me to say? It’s $15 off, which is pretty good! Do I think the game will drop further in the coming weeks? Kinda, yeah as well. <\/p>\n

I think you’ve got to look at early Black Friday sales<\/a> like this, less about min max savings, and more about securing a discount that suits you, for the stuff you actually want to buy.<\/p>\n

If you want Borderlands 4, and you want to play it now<\/em>, then you can pay yourself back with the gift of time, rather than sitting around waiting for another $5 off between now and December. <\/p>\n

Still, if you’re serious about saving as much as possible, I can for sure see Borderlands 4 dropping to sub $50 by November 28. If you’ve got the patience, stick it out. Otherwise, over 20% off a new game is still a pretty great offering.<\/p>\n
