Add another game to the September pileup: RuneScape: Dragonwilds is due out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S on September 15, 2026.
This September is jam-packed with video game launches (Marvel’s Wolverine, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall etc), pretty much all on account of getting out ahead of the behemoth that is Grand Theft Auto 6’s release in November. RuneScape: Dragonwilds — the RuneScape IP’s debut on console — has now joined them.
The full 1.0 launch (RuneScape: Dragonwilds is already in early access on PC) includes the brand-new Scorned Wilderness update, alongside all content from the upcoming Umbral Sands expansion arriving later this summer.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open-world, co-op, crafting and survival game, and the first standalone title in Jagex’s long-running medieval MMORPG franchise. It’s sold over 1 million copies during early access already.
Here’s the official blurb:
Players embark solo or in teams of four across Gielinor’s previously unexplored continent of Ashenfall, on an epic quest to discover why untamed, transformative magic spills across the fractured land.
Through the power of magic that flows through the anima-rich landscape, players can not only obtain powerful spells to get them through battles, but find their practical uses as well, as they collect items and craft things to help them throughout their journey. In this land riddled with fierce dragons, players must level up skills, prepare potions, and craft gear, as they carve a path through these ferocious beasts and make their way to the Dragon Queen herself.
As confirmed at State of Play, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a day one launch on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. Here's everything announced at Summer Game Fest 2026 if you need a catch up on what the video game industry has in store.
